Instructor Rating

At Pro Sky we offer suitable applicants the opportunity to advance their flight skills to the next level. Obtaining your Instructor Rating is an extremely rewarding privilege. Instructing a student from knowing nothing about flying to watching them take their first solo flight is something very special. It also comes with significant responsibility in carrying out such instruction.  Once completed, you will be paid to fly.

Below is the basic requirements you will need to get started.

  • Minimum 100 hours as pilot-in-command of recreational aeroplane in the same Aeroplane Group for which the rating is sought.

  • A minimum of 20 hours dual in-flight instruction in a recreational aeroplane of the same Group

  • A minimum of 30 hours ground instruction. This also includes the Principles and Methods of Instruction required within the course.

Although there is a minimum standard of aeronautical experience, you will also need to demonstrate a level of competency in the following:

  • Give ground instruction on any subject or flying sequence listed in the Flight Training Syllabus to a high degree of accuracy and simplicity

  • Ability to impart knowledge appropriate to the student

  • Demonstrate a sound level of knowledge

  • Demonstrate an ability to construct a well-defined lesson brief

Finally upon successful completion of the course you will need to demonstrate but not limited to the following.

  • Give in-flight instruction on any flying sequence listed in the Flight Training Syllabus

  • Impart knowledge, identify and correct student faults

  • Display a high level of airmanship

  • Synchronise patter with aeroplane response to control input

  • Fly the aeroplane accurately and safely in each sequence to the standards set out in the RAAus Syllabus of Flight Training and that of Pro Sky Aviation.

  • Refer to section 2.08 - 1 of the Operations Manual for a more detailed look at the requirements.
